St. Elmo's Fire?......*imagines Elmo of Sesame street running around starting fires* that would explain everything. is this close to the spirit fires people have seen? just curious http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Elmo%27s_fire

I suppose that could be it. Actually, though, I found a link to an article on ball lightning from that Wikipedia article, and that sounds more like it, especially the part about it being able to appear even without a thunderstorm. o.o
Sorry for such a late response; I haven't been on much in the past few months.

O-o it could also maybe be something along the lines of a spirit using these occurances to manifest itself.

As far as I know, the santelmo appears in forested areas and has no connections with thunderstorms.

As in my school, there's 2 ghosts that inhabit certain rooms.
SW410 - A lady ghost that keeps on making itself known when a lone male is in the room through various means (making the aircon noisy, moving chairs or whispering on ear).
W401 - A child ghost which often plays pranks (i. e. turning off the light and stuff)

(Kind of off-topic, but about the Santelmo thing... the name is divided San-Telmo, spanish for Saint Telmo, not Elmo... xD)

Got a new one. Something keeps turning off my son's nightlight. Every night this week. I'll go to check on him about an hour after he goes to bed, and the light is on. I go to check on him before I go to bed, and it's off. I will be investigating to see if he's doing it or something else. I'll post my findings.

Well the nightlight is fine, but his closet door keeps opening. It's a sliding type so there is no way it can just be blown open by wind.

Well, how about a personal one.
On the old site, it was well known that my guardian dragon is a pretty active guy. Those posts are all gone of course.
This Christmas Eve, I ended up having to be watched by my brother and his family as I was having some medical difficulties. Goruden had been spotted over there that morning by one of my neices... or more accurately, her "sight" allowed her to see his tail going around a corner. He had been pacing around over there for quite some time.
Later that day, or more accurately night by then, the power in my town cut out. My medical problems started getting worse, leading to some texting to a friend that badgered me into calling my mom since she had once been a nurse. Mother told me to call my brother and get someone to come spend the night with me to help with my son and call for help if needed (as I am well known for NOT calling for help till stuff is baaaad).
The ensuing call to brother resulted in several things. My brother temporarily learning how to fly, as he apparently flew over the couch and table in the living room (he's a big heavy tree of a man, this is a huge feat for him). It also resulted in a spiritual uproar as the lot that generally hangs around at my brother's got riled up... Once I was brought there so everyone could keep an eye on me, there was a lot of unexplained smells, including garlic bread when there had been none for a good while... and 30 some different spirits that prefer not to be seen but instead felt, heard, or smelled making regular rounds about the place, sticking cold hands on me every time my fever started to spike again, and one that apparently figured out that I'm soothed by different fabrics as it kept brushing by me with different stuff.
There's a bit more, but some of the details I can't share without permission of parties involved.
And at any rate, I'm back home in my own bed (though a trip to the hospital did get involved at one point).
