Nuno sa Punso

The nuno sa punso (lit. “old man in the anthill”) is a magical creature that resembles a short old man with a long beard. It is said to dwell in mounds of soil and will harm those who will damage it. There is a common belief that if modern medicine is unable to cure a particular illness such as unexplainable swelling of different body parts, the ailment may be due to a nuno's curse and the victim is advised to seek the help of an albularyo. The albularyo, a practitioner of traditional medicine, may require the victim to provide an offering such as fruits or other food, drinks or a material object to gain the forgiveness of this being. To avoid the wrath of the nuno, children are reminded not to play outside after six o’clock in the evening and to ask permission or give fair notice before passing by such places believed to be inhabited by this being which is done by saying “tabi tabi po” (lit. “please let me pass by”).

O_o what a strange being. Does the Anthill Man ever speak to others if they are polite to him?

There's a possibility YA since this creature is not considered to be evil. It only do harm to those people who don't respect its mound.

I’m not so sure but offenders usually bring fruits and livestock especially chicken to its mound to soothe its anger and gain forgiveness.

Maybe we should just leave him alone. I don't want to offend him and have limbs to swell. If one wants to come forward and have a discussion, then I'm all for a good conversation!

It's an old man in the anthill and not an ant-man. XD I'm still doing the next article. Maybe within this week I'll post about the duwende.
