What weapons of "otherworldly" origin do you know of? Here is the start of my list. Included will likely be some of my successes in the field of making magickal weapons. Not often though, dont worry

Gungnir: Odhins spear. Fashioned by dwarves known as sons of ivaldi, it never misses, always kills the ones it hits, and likely returns to the owners hand when thrown, as that seems like a popular enchantment amongst gods. Its point has runes carved into it and its name means swaying one.

Himitsu tsuki: A spear of my own creation. Sixteen bindrunes are carved into its shaft with dragons blood ink and 10 spells cast on it repeatedly every day for a year. Its abilities though mostly untested in battle are boosting the users strenght and reflexes, protection from malevolent magick, ability to pierce stone, and boosting allies spirits. Its name means "secret moon" or "secret thrust" and it is the fith attempt from me to make a magickal spear

Gungnir is one frequently seen used in various fiction. It features in the Touhou series also, in the possession of Remilia Scarlet and said to bear all those same traits. Remilia's sister Flandre Scarlet uses another Ledgendary Norse weapon, one seen much less frequently in media, the Lævateinn. The sword/wand of Loki, capable of taking multiple forms as the wielder wills it. Norse legend states that the Lævateinn was used by the fire giant Surt in Ragnarok (the Norse equivalent of the Apocalypse) to burn down the whole world, except for one safe haven. It's both fitting and ironic that Flandre would be wielding a tool of such destructive might. Ironic because she could theoretically do the same under her own power, with or without the Lævateinn.

I found a bit of Norse Poetry that mentions the Lævateinn.

41. Svipdag spake:
"Now answer me, Fjolsvith, the question I ask,
For now the truth would I know:
What weapon can send Vithofnir to seek
The house of Hel below?"

42. Fjolsvith spake:
"Lævatein is there, that Lopt with runes
Once made by the doors of death;
In Lægjarn's chest by Sinmora lies it,
And nine locks fasten it firm."

Here's one that I'm curious whether the eastern mythology pros here might be able to shed some light on it's origins. Another Touhou character, the "Half-Yuurei" Youmu Konpaku, wields a pair of twin blades. The longer blade, called 楼観剣 (Roukanken) - Lookout-Tower Sword, is said to be able to cleave the soul itself; the shorter blade, 白楼剣 (Hakurouken) - White Tower Sword, is able to cleave through a person's own confusion. (Though I'm unsure of what cleaving confusion implies or would achieve.)

To quote her, "The things that cannot be cut by my Roukan-Blade, forged by youkai... are next to none!"

Has anyone perhaps ever heard of any such similar weapons before?

Would you like me to post about Ame-no-murakumo-no-Tsurugi (aka Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi)?

Here are some magical weapons that I've encountered while playing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow that originated from different mythologies:

Caladbolg (lit. "hard lightning") is the sword of Fergus mac Róich from the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. It is a two-handed sword that made a circle like an arc of rainbow when swung, and to have the power to slice the tops off hills and take out an entire host.

Dáinsleif (lit. "Dáinn's legacy") is king Högni's sword that was said to be created by the dwarves.

Excalibur is the legendary sword of King Arthur. It is sometimes attributed with magical powers or associated with the rightful sovereignty of Great Britain. Sometimes Excalibur and the Sword in the Stone (the proof of Arthur's lineage) are said to be the same weapon, but in most versions they are considered separate.

Gram (lit. "wrath") is the name of the sword that Siegfried used to kill the dragon Fafnir.

I tried to keep it reasonably short, as I had a lot of information on this sword, and, at the least, the legend of its origin (it's one of my favourites ^^; ).

Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi (天叢雲剣)
Owner(s) - Amaterasu-Ookami (天照大神), Ninigi no Mikoto (ニニギ尊), Yamato Takeru (大和建尊・日本武尊), successive generations of Emperors
Time Period - Ancient times (age of the gods) ~ Modern day
Region - Japan
Sources - Nihon-shoki, Kojiki
Classification - Divine sword (one of the three sacred treasures)

One of the "Three Sacred Treasures", along with the Yata-no-kagami (八咫鏡) and Yasakani-no-Magatama (八尺瓊勾玉) of Japan. It is said to be a double-edged sword, 1shaku 7-sun (a little more than 50cm) in length and believed to be kept at Atsuta Shrine. It is said to be kept in a wooden box (about 5 Shaku long - approximately 150cm) locked inside a stone box in the inner most area of the Shrine. It is said if anyone but the Emperor or head Shinto priest of Atsuta looks upon it, they either goes insane or dies within the week (depends on the version) – but were usually exiled before this.
According to Hayama Enshin's description, it is described as "a double -edged sword, with a kissaki (point (of a sword)) shaped like a shobu leaf, to habaki-moto. It is one piece with tsuba (hand-guard) and the grip is flat and hollows. There is something like joints that look like a fish’s back-bone. It is white in color."

It was taken from the corpse of the monster "Yamata-no-Orochi" (八岐大蛇) by Susanoo-no-Mikoto after he killed it. He chopped up its body and found the sword in (according to some accounts I've read) its forth tail, and called it "Ame-no-Murakumo no Tsurugi' (天叢雲剣 - rough translation: Sword of Heaven’s Gathering Clouds). He then presented it to his sister (Amaterasu-Ookami). She then passed it to her grandson, Ninigi, along with the other Sacred Treasures.
It then came into the hands of Yamato Takeru. After he was sent away, he met his Aunt (a shrine maiden of Ise), who gave him the sword. When he was lured into an open field, a treacherous warlord (or Ainu (native people of Japan), I've also read...) had flaming arrows fired to burn the grass. He used the sword to cut the grass, at which point he discovered its ability to control the wind and changed the direction of the fire towards the lord and won the battle.
Because of this, he renamed the sword 'Kusanagi no Tsurugi' (草薙剣 - Grass-cutting Sword).

>.> If memory serves, Hercules (Heracles?) had a magic lion pelt that could not be cut or damaged except by the claws of the lion itself.

There's Thor's famous hammer (i forget the name of it). O-o i think St. George, slayer of the dragon, had a lance named "Ascalon". i don't think it was magical, but it was impressive to say the least if he could pierce a dragon hide with it.

Thor's hammers name is Mjölnir. It was forged by dwarves and was so heavy that even Thor needed iron gloves and a belt that increased his strenght to wield it. When thrown it would fly back to his hand after it hit the target and by Thors will it could shrink so he could carry it inside his tunic
