Well I'll be visiting my dad for new year, but mostly the same as you I guess, stay up late with snacks and such.

Last year though as 2009 rolled in, as a Touhouite I put a little extra effort into it. Me and a couple of my friends celebration wasn't as conventional as most. We painted out a ⑨ banner to hang on the wall, made a large bowl of ice cubes to eat (yeah, plain ice cubes), and celebrated early at 9 o'clock as well as upon the new year itself. Sounds absurd huh? To me 200⑨ meant the year of Cirno. And of course the 09/09/09 was Cirno day as far as I'm concerned. Only comes once a century but the best holiday ever. It's been a cool year.

It's a bit of a shame that I have no similar special plans for 2010. I think I'll write out a callender and devote days to random things. I'll have a frog day. And another lesser ⑨ day.

Last year, Goruden and I didn't do anything. Usually I make an offering and share sake with my guardian and the kami... and of course house purification. Last year I just wasn't with it enough.

みんな様、あけましておめでとうございます~! (Akemashite-omedetou gozaimasu)
I hope the new year brings you all luck and happiness.

I personally had the house to myself and ate some traditional food, watched some movies, etc. I can see the fireworks from my backyard, so I didn't need to go anywhere XD. I quite like it quiet.

i spent the new year at a friend's party with my family, eating pizza and shooting off confetti "fireworks" into the ceiling fan.

Too much beer for me. Guess my Celtic roots took hold too much...I am WAY too old to do things like that. My son started his sword training with me. YAY now we share two passions. I love being able to connect to my kiddo. I guess I'm a little jealous of my wife and him having such a close connection, so I try to grab any connection I have with him and run with it! He'll be a sword swinging blacksmith in no time!
