Recent sources have informed me that it is, in fact, Halloween. Not Easter. What I will do with that evening is still unclear as I have already wasted most of my savings buying fake grass and several pallets of farm fresh eggs. I am sad now......

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, ALL YOU HAPPY PEOPLE!!!!

Halloween in the Philippines is a bit different. Originally, Trick-or-treating and Halloween parties are not common since most people are not at home. But in the past few years, more and more Filipinos are starting to adopt the western tradition of trick-or-treating where children dresses themselves in cute costumes and knock on doors to ask for treats. This is prevalent in average to above-average communities in Manila these days. Some malls these days also hold Halloween parties for kiddies and trick-or-treating is done in the shops. Generally speaking, however, this is not practiced in rural areas in the province.

October 31st marks the start of the celebration. Many people are visiting the cemeteries to clean the grave of their loved ones as preparation for All Saints Day (celebrated on November 1st) and All Souls Day (celebrated on November 2nd). There isn’t much difference in the celebration of these 2 days in our culture. The government declares these days as national holidays and October 31st is usually a non-working holiday. To most Filipinos, this is a time for families to come together and remember their departed loved ones.

I'm putting on my shinsengumi haori as a costume and going to a bar. Going to claim that I am a member of that group and it has been reassembled if anyone asks. And once again going to bar with three of my friends.

Happy Obon Er I mean... Happy Halloween.

As for myself, I get to go around in my partial fursuit I constructed and follow around my Family's kids.

Haku - Obon was back in July XD

For me, Halloween has near-to-no relevance. Australians don't celebrate it (apart from the occassional child that comes to your door, or the random people that have Halloween-themed parties for the sake of it). The only thing I'll be doing on the day is wishing my cousin a happy birthday ^^;... and celebrating being free from Uni (again... another graduation ceremony...)
